Romeo and Juliet by Prokofiev with superb modern choreography by Kenneth MacMillan taken from Julie Lincoln, is the masterpiece that the La Scala Theatre proposes for this summer 2023.
A tale in elegant dance, enriched by numerous ballet d'action, a story of passionate love, power and death, descriptive and extraordinary music masterfully directed by the young and talented Timur Zangiev. The scenes are by Mauro Carosithe costumes of Odette Nicoletti the lights of Marco Filibeck.
The opening night is entrusted to Claudio Coviello a highly applauded Romeo who, with theatrical intensity, technique and passion, inflames the audience. The young Agnese Di Clemente, dance a sweet Juliet. Christian Fagetti, a vigorous Mercutio, Marco Agostino a vehement Tebaldo perfect swordsman, Mattia Semperboni is the dashing Benvolio, Gabriele Corrado Lord Capulet, in short a resounding cast sprinkled with exciting ensemble dances.
A perfect and harmonious corps de ballet underlines the highlights of this tragedy.
At the end of the performance, twelve minutes of thunderous applause and numerous stage calls, the result of a complex, topical, intense performance of great value.
The protagonists of the subsequent performances will be Nicoletta Manni who will play the role of Juliet alongside Timofej Andrijashenko on 30 June. 28 July and 1 July Martina Arduino and Jacopo Tissi; on 6 July Navrin Turnbull Linda Giubelli on 7 July Alice Mariani with Nicola Del Freo .
